Beach Resort Guides and Reviews for 2026

Beach resorts judged on the week rather than the brochure photo. Reef and water conditions, whether all-inclusive maths works, family versus adults-only, and the season that quietly changes everything about a coastal stay.

How we judge a beach resort

A resort is a week-long decision, so we stay long enough to eat every meal, swim at different tides and walk to the nearest town. We score the room, the beach, the food and the transfer separately, because a great pool cannot rescue a bad bed. We also ask what happens when it rains, when the reef is rough and when the main restaurant closes for a private event.

Reef, currents and season

The water decides the trip. We check whether the swim area is sheltered, whether a lifeguard is on duty and what the bottom is made of. A house reef is only useful if it is healthy and close to shore, so we ask for recent photos and the distance from the sand. Currents, sargassum and storm timing are part of the review, not footnotes.

What the rate leaves out

Transfers, taxes, tips and premium restaurants are the usual extras. A seaplane or boat transfer can cost more than a night, and a package that includes drinks may still charge for coffee or wine. We publish the total for a realistic week, then compare it with a room-only stay in town. For coastal weather, the National Weather Service outlook is a useful check before you pay a deposit.
